Amazing that I have only just discovered this forum. I was a day pupil at that school in about 1948. I lived with my parents in Old Totnes Road, Wolborough. I remember in the winter our classroom was freezing with just one solid fuel stove for heating. The boarders were on good terms with the cook and often scrounged some buttered bread which we used to make french toast using a pencil as a toasting fork to hold the bread in the open doors of the stove. I can still remember the smell of bread, butter, coal smoke and burned pencil! Thanks for the memory!
